About this ebook

All her life, Penelope has been cheering on her friends from the sidelines. But she's grown tired of being a benchwarmer. Now, all she wants is a chance to compete.

With the help of her friends, she devises a plan to get her wheels in a race. And she works day and night to put that plan in place.

When the day of reckoning arrives, Penny has to make a choice. Will she have the courage to put all of her hopes and dreams on the finish line? Or will she continue to be a cheerleader?

    POSITIVELY PENELOPE:

    A Day at the Races

It’s race day at school. Penny is supportive of her best friend, Jimmy. She wants to see him win. However, she, too, longs to be a competitor—but she can’t use her feet. Will she give up her dream? Or will she figure out a way to be the fastest kid on wheels?

    Faster! Faster, she squeals.

He zooms around the track. He's in third. Second. He circles the bend.

Oh my, oh my! He really can fly. This is it; here he comes.

The final straightaway. The moment of speed truth. Penny inches to the edge of her seat, hands gripping the rail in front of her.

    Run! Faster. FASTER, she cries.

He catches Alvin, who’s in the lead. Three, two, one, across the line, in record time. By one foot, Jimmy wins.

Penelope shrieks with delight as she claps her hands high above her head. Whistles and cheers erupt from the crowd as spectators start down the bleachers. Another successful field day is in the books.

Penny whips her wheels down the ramp ahead of everyone else and rolls joyously onto the red rubber track.

Yes. Yes. Jimmy, you did it, Penny congratulates him with a powerful double fist bump. The victor.

Jimmy jumps up and down, waving his arms. He looks like a
