About this ebook

Bethany's life sucks. A dead-end job, a boss who counts every second, and a sister who is sickeningly in love.

Things clearly have to change.

And when Bethany finds some voodoo dolls, she knows exactly what to do.

Voodoo Doll is a psychological horror suspense short story. My horror stories explore the frailty of the human psyche - how tenuous our grasp on reality can be. The delve into how alone each of us really is, as we navigate the short, brief flicker of life we are granted. My stories focus on the psychological aspects of fear and do not contain overt gore. They are suitable for teens and up.

This short story is part of my series: Lisa's Dark Gripping Short Tales. You can read the short stories one at a time if you wish - each is available as a standalone ebook. If you prefer, you can get each set of nine short stories compiled together in ebook or paperback format. The title of that compilation is, naturally enough, Lisa's Dark Gripping Short Tales (1, 2, etc.) I offer full discussions of each storyline on YouTube, for those who wish to delve deeper into the plot and meaning behind the scenes.

I support battered women's shelters.

I love writing in a variety of genres. I currently have over 300 books published in all lengths from full 500+ page novels down to short stories. I love writing series. Some are with unconnected characters, like the 14 full-length medieval novels with a sword being passed from heroine to heroine. Some have connected characters, like the 31 mini-mysteries featuring a detective in Salem, Massachusetts. All of my books are written "clean" with no explicit intimacy, no harsh language, and no explicit violence. All are suitable for teens and up.For a full listing of my books please visit:http://www.lisashea.com/lisabase/writing/gettingyourbookpublished/lisalibrary.html

Out of all the awful days I’d had this past month, this had got to be the worst. My sister, Gina, hadn’t been able to pick me up again which meant I was trekking through pouring rain from my job at the George A. Banks Furniture Emporium to get to the bus stop. And, of course, there went the city bus, pulling away just as I got there.

    I groaned.

Miss Betsy’s Thrift Shop was located right behind the bus stop. Had been for the whole ten years I’d been working my stupid job. Savvy marketing, there, because all the people too poor to afford cars would get sucked in to look around while they waited for the next bus to arrive. I bet Miss Betsy lobbied the city not to put in a covered waiting area for that very reason. It was almost enough to make me not want to frequent her shop.

    I said almost.

I reluctantly pushed my way in, the chimes merrily warning
