    Gray light, drifts through door,

    makes me cough tears fall

    --after all you should--

    Be

    kind

    to those

    you meet when

    out today walking

small things mean a lot to someone.

--an afternoon on a dirty patio--

    Did

    you

    see them

    sitting there

    hopping I’d fall down

    bleeding onto concrete and sore.

    Didn’t

    come

    through right

    ended in pain

    and no one could care.

    Shirt

    ruined

    again

    didn’t let it

    bring me down by much

and I ended up forgiving them.

    --and a hare wanders through--

Just a blank moment as the sun rises

    feeding the quiet

    before morning rush starts

and the quiet ends for a few hours.

    Looking over traces of fog

    sheets of dust

    cover flat surfaces

    and a hare sits there

    nibbling at something.

    No smiles yet

    the air smells of wet,

    sounds of coffee brewing
