    Fertility is an asset to be protected and preserved from childhood. Not everyone knows that trivial infections contracted during childhood or youth, if ignored, can lead to long-term negative consequences on fertility.

    Every woman is born with a predefined number of egg cells (ovarian reserve) which, with the passage of time, are reduced until exhaustion. More precisely, the woman's fertility is highest between 20 and 30 years, undergoes a first fall, even if gradual, already around 32 years and a second faster decline after 37 years, until it is close to zero in the years, they precede menopause, which generally occurs around the age of 50.

    Italy is among the European countries where fewer children are born: 1.39 per woman. The average age at first birth exceeds 30 years and, compared to 2012, over-40 mothers they have doubled from 3.1% to 6.2%; in particular, it is more than the percentage of women over 40 when their first child was born doubled, from 1.5% to 4%.

    These factors, birth rates and average age of mothers must be considered in relation to the fact that age is the prevailing factor in determining female fertility potential.

    First of all it is therefore a question of time. We must also consider the fact that the reproductive system, whose functioning is complex and influenced by multiple factors, is particularly vulnerable to environmental interference.
