An A to Z of Animal Poetry
()
About this ebook
This collection of Animal Poems is quite literally an alphabet of Animal Poems with at least two poems for each letter of the alphabet. The first animal in each section is accompanied by a photograph borrowed from the Wikimedia Creative Commons Library with permission, and with attribution also to the author of each photograph as recorded. Much of the poetry is descriptive with some inevitable anthropomorphism. Many of the poems can certainly be enjoyed by children.

An A to Z of Animal Poetry - James Hathersage
Introduction
In the many varieties of animals that grace our
planet, we humans often see our own character
and behaviour. We make the links that allow
our animal creations to think like us and act
as we do, often not pausing for a minute to
rationalise such ideas. These concepts do
work and certainly entertain us endlessly
whether in story books, cartoons, poems,
or films.
Well here we go with a collection of animal
poems that follows this concept of humanisation
or anthropomorphism as it is more properly
known. Also included is descriptive verse, to
allow us to show some respect to the other
members of the animal kingdom, with whom
we share this fragile world.
I hope that you derive as much pleasure in the
reading of these poems as there undoubtedly
has been in their writing.

Anthony the Anteater.
––––––––
Anthony the Anteater
is purpose made to eat
the little creepy crawlies,
That scramble round his feet.
Unappetising, probably,
For those with other taste,
But all to him desirable,
And little goes to waste.
