DEDICATION
I dedicate this book to my dear friend Kelly. Although our friendship has had many ups and downs, we have remained true to the call.
Many teen moons were spent plotting and planning lessons
for those who had in some way wronged us. Little did we know that life would continue throwing us curve balls and there would be nothing we could do about it. Our friendship in these bleak times helped us to understand that our power was not in getting even, it was found in always supporting each other through the messy and sometimes unavoidable situations.
The patron musical saint of our times was and always will be Prince Rogers Nelson. Our love of him bonded us in a way that no other could have.
Kelly, I thank you for always being there, ready to break down doors for me if necessary. Your friendship means the world to me. I salute you My Sista.
May U Live 2 See the Dawn, Kid, Thank You.
Love Always, Andrea
MY JOURNEY…
In the first part of my story, I shared the story of My Love and the many trials (ie: men) that I had to go through to find true happiness with him. I’m proud to report that we are doing well and happily settled into regular life.
Now let’s get to the business at hand. I’ve decided to settle some scores and I’m not afraid to tell you that I’m a murderer, straight no chaser. Here’s part of my 10-page manifesto, with bullet points of course…enjoy.
For every woman that wanted revenge and never got it, I kill for you.
For every man who’s hurt a stranger or even someone you love because you can’t control your temper or hands, you are on my list.
Every person that has ever disrespected me, lied to me or harmed me and mine in some way, you will have to see me at some point in your miserable life.
Those who think they got away with stealing things that belonged to me, I’m coming to get my shit back and I’m taking part of you with me.
There is no right or wrong in the streets. There is only survival. I learned this a long time ago and although I live in the suburbs now, I have no problem putting on the black hoodie and sweatpants and bringing my bat to whip your ass.
Where will you try to hide? The thing is you will never see me coming, never know when I’m near and how close I’ll be to slicing your throat.
I asked you not to bother me, but now it’s too late.
Shall we begin?
TWENTY-SOMETHING TOM-FOOLERY
…young hearts beat free tonight…
I took Daddy’s van to Baltimore and then Philly. I don’t know what I was thinking I was just trying to get away and ended up at a poetry gig.
My hands were sweaty on the keys and the ignition, but I fired up that engine and got going.
Once there it was a weird scene in somebody’s apartment building with a lot of steps. I was asked to hand over my jacket and my sneakers. I complied.
The air was laced with incense and the speaker system was loud. Some girl was on the mic doing a poem that everyone was clapping to and she was hunched over and giving me speed skater brilliance as she moved the crowd.
After thunderous applause for her performance she demanded more as she came through and exited to the back.
I just gave you f-ckrs everything and I want a standing ovation!
Some peeps stood, most just stared at her in horror.
I turned to make sure she wasn’t pulling out a gun and there stood my ex and the wife. Fury engulfed my veins as I realized they were unknowingly in my personal space.
Get away from me!
I screeched before I could find the time to compose myself. The ex looked at me in horror after realizing who I was.
I’m sorry…I’m sorry…
That face was one of fear and I relished the moment. For added effect I rooted around on a
