      Nicholas Lungu, originating from Lugoj, Romania – where the sky is high and the sun ripens uniquely flavored berries with its spirit and grace – arrived among the baroque walls and urban refinement of Timisoara, from which he then took the path to the Holy Land in 1989, the year he immigrated to Israel. In 1999 he made his debut in the Romanian language magazine Viaţa noastră (Our Life). Since then he has steadily published poetry and humorous prose in several Israeli magazines. Passionate about writing and – by his own confession – particularly influenced by Romanian poets George Bacovia and Ion Minulescu, Nicholas Lungu began this volume entitled Used Animals while in Romania, and now he has a volume of poetry in Hebrew, for readers in his adopted country.
