About this ebook

This book contains two ghost stories: 1) “The Ghost of Gray Robe,” a story about a guardian angel of the Navajo, who has helped many Indians in their time of need. The eye-witness accounts of his appearances are far too detailed and numerous to shrug off as mere tall tales, and the witnesses feel they truly experienced the paranormal at work. 2) “Face to Face with Big Foot.” There have been many reported incidents of coming face-to-face with a huge ape-like creature in the wild and rugged Cascade Mountains of Washington. James Spencer, one of the witnesses, was trout fishing in the upper Lewis River near Mount St. Helens when he came face-to-face with this creature. Even though scared stiff, he had the feeling he would not be harmed. Big Foot is the subject of many movies and TV shows, and the events related in this story are some of the reason why. So if you like to read about the paranormal and the unknown, here’s some good reading for you.

Black Hat, a Navajo Indian, stood in his saddle as he sighted the gray figure standing beside the trail. The figure appeared to be a man clad in a robe or blanket wrapped around his body. A gray mist or faint smoke seemed to hover around the figure. The night was star studded with a full moon brightly shinning. Not a cloud could be seen in the sky. Black Hat reined his horse to a full stop. The strange figure did not move.

Who are you? asked Black Hat.

The shadowy figure motioned for Black Hat to follow him and moved away. His moccasins made no sound as they moved through the dry sagebrush and buffalo grass. His entire body appeared to be floating rather than walking.

A few hundred yards into the desert the robed figure stopped and turned to face Black Hat. He pointed toward a rocky ridge in the distance. Black Hat looked in that direction, then glanced back just in time to see the apparition slowly fade into nonexistence.

Black Hat was riding the Red Valley trail from Black Mountain toward Canyon Country on the Colorado River. The Indian was not apprehensive at seeing the mysterious figure. Instead, a feeling of kindliness and gentleness came over him that he could not explain.

A newcomer to the Red Valley Navajo country in north-central Arizona, Black Hat had never
