About this ebook

Most people understand that God is bound to keep his promises. What they fail to understand is the fact that God's promises are conditional.
In this book Dr Olowosoyo did a teaching on Eli and used it to explain the consequences of a careless lifestyle in priesthood.

    Dedication

I want to dedicate this book to a wonderful man of God who was my Pastor in Ilorin for two years.

    Bishop George Adjeman

(He later became a Bishop of Living Faith World Outreach, Winners’ Chapel)

I fondly remember your encouragements when I was a businessman and was called ‘Fine Akara’

You showed me honour in Priesthood.

Chapter One - Does God Change?

"Therefore the LORD God of Israel says: 'I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.' But now the LORD says: 'Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

    1 Samuel 2:30

There is only one person in existence that does not change His mind and that is God. Men are so unreliable because their opinions keep changing. But when God says a thing, you can expect Him to go by His Word. And if you go through the scriptures, you will see that He is a faithful God. He honoured children because of promises He made to their parents who were dead before they were born.

As a result of this understanding of God’s faithfulness, I was shocked when I first read the above quoted scripture. And I wondered aloud whether God would actually change His mind about individuals or places. But as I dug into the Word of God, I realised that it was very exact.

God could change His plan in view of people’s actions and other events. However it is not in the nature of God to change His mind.

Let me give you three instances where God was forced to change His plans:

Adam was created by God to dwell in Eden and to have dominion on the earth. But God drove him out of Eden in Genesis chapter 3 and he lost his dominion. When Adam sinned, God changed His plans. And the whole arrangement changed.

It was only two of the people of Israel who left Egypt that actually got into the Promised Land: Joshua and Caleb. This was despite God’s initial plan to take all of them to
