    Prologue

    Amidst the screaming the voice returned.

    It called out to her through her fear like an angel watching over her.

    It told her to have no fear.

    That in time everything would go her way.

    Liar! She screamed at the voice.

    The voice responded but was drowned out by the whispering.

    She listened to the whispering, trying to understand its meaning. But she could not make sense of it.

    Then the whispering began to fade away.

    No! Don't leave! She screamed grasping her face, her nails digging into her skin as she pulled her hands down her cheeks.

    Her words had no effect and the whispering continued to fade leaving only silence. The girl began rocking back and forth, sitting hands-around-her-knees with blood trickling down her face.

    A distant shout echoed through the air but it was promptly devoured by the silence. Her mind was flashing through her worst memories. Her entire body was shaking, her head twitched in every direction and her eyes rolled uncontrollably.

    Just when she thought she couldn't handle it anymore the whispering began again, but this time she understood.

    Burn away your weakness. It said.

    The whispering was getting louder as if it were moving ever closer continually uttering the same phrase.

    Shrieks and screams now sounded amidst the chants,
