About The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
Stephen Covey, author of international bestseller The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is one of the best known names in the self-improvement world. His most famous book was first published in 1989 and (it's no exaggeration to say) went on to change the world. The book is seen as a important resource for anyone serious about personal development, from students to stay-at-home parents to CEOs.
Decades later, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is still one of the most popular and bestselling books of its genre. And for good reason. Covey's book is the go-to for people who want to improve relationships with both family members and colleagues, develop lasting friendships, increase sales, and become more effective leaders. Covey provides lessons that are timeless because they are based on certain fundamental truths about who we are as human beings, and how we interact with each other.
Covey's advice focuses on the personal and professional habits we all carry around with us. These habits, Covey writes, are what make up our character and ultimately determine the level of our success. Everyone has habits—both good ones and bad ones, both habits with lots of impact and habits with little impact. The tricky thing is that most people are unaware that some of these habits exist, much less of their effect. Those habits of which we are aware may be written off as an essential, unchangeable part of our personalities. Both of these situations can be limiting or even dangerous.
The great thing about Covey's book is that if focuses on building positive habits, rather than changing bad ones. When you develop a full buffet of good habits, they eventually crowd out at least some of the bad ones.
Changing your habits changes the way you see the world and the way the world sees you. Covey's advice will help you take control of your life, make better decisions, improve your personal and professional relationships, be more productive, and become happier.
