Chapter 1- Vessel For A Purpose

"I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are Your work…" Psalms 139:14

A vessel is an utensil that is used to hold anything; it can be a barrel, bottle, kettle, cup, bowl, pot or flask - It is a container. Human vessel is a person regarded as receiving or containing something; one into whom something is stored for use, someone into whom grace is infused as a child of light. We are made to be ‘containers’ of God who formed us, created us and made us vessels for specific divine purpose; He didn’t created us in vain. He has the reason for shaping or creating us the way we are as seen in the opening scripture above.

Even though God created us from the earth (clay) or dust, according to Job19:20, in Genesis 2:7 at the creation He breathe into the man’s nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living soul. The Hebrew Word for breath is ‘Spirit’ according to Proverbs 20:27; God breathe in the man the breath of life because God is a Spirit and man needs His Spirit in order to contain Him; the clay in raw state has no life until the Spirit is injected into it. Adam was just a dust until God breathed into him, the breath of life.

God created us for many purposes and thus gave us mandates, first it is to show forth in His likeness Genesis 1:26 says Then God said Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness" this means if we move around God, His character of holiness, perfection and righteousness will be manifested in us. Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love Ephesians 1:4

God is Spirit and no man have seen Him because He is invisible but He wanted His character to show in us for others to see so that those who don’t know Him will come to the light, through our godly character. We are to be His steward, glowing in Him and functioning as His sons and daughters. Another purpose in which God created us is to rule, when He created other things before man, they are not said to have purpose but when God created the man He said"…Let them have dominion over the fish
