About this ebook
Everyone has little moments of frustration, fear, or sadness, often littered throughout the day. Whether you are religious, spiritual, or just in need of some support, it is often in these small moments, as much as in the big ones, that we would benefit from the presence of a higher power.
This open-minded book has simple prayers and meditations to help you connect. The prayers are nondenominational and encourage you, no matter your creed, to take a moment, breathe, and reconnect with the support that is out there, waiting for you.
As a conceptual artist, Hannah Burr has used her art to stand in for a deity or higher power, providing accessible and beautiful pieces to help you on your spiritual journey. Take Contemporary Prayers to Whatever Works with you on the go or keep it by your bedside. This versatile book is designed to be a spiritual companion whenever you need a little inner harmony.
Hannah Burr
Boston native Hannah Burr lives and works in southeast Michigan as a contemporary artist. She uses these and other prayers to relax and enjoy seismic shifts in her life. They’ve helped her remember, as she forgets repeatedly, that there are larger forces at work, gravity for example, of which she is a part. These prayers help her accept and tap into whatever that is. She is also the author of the first volume of Contemporary Prayers to Whatever Works; Help me; Do the Thing; and The Elements: A Love Letter to All Things Everywhere.

INTRODUCTION
This book is an artist’s take on prayers, written in plain language to whomever or whatever works for you. It’s one in a series intended for anybody, regardless of belief. It sidesteps the whole debate about what one personally feels connected to, and instead focuses on the act of connection itself.
The images in this book aren’t supposed to resemble anything in particular. They have been paired at random with the phrases, and painted with acrylic gouache pigment on paper. They are abstract forms that can stand in for whatever you might want to address in a prayer or petition. What you address is your business: it could be a mythic warrior
