The Essential Self-Publishing Success Blueprint - Lenaure Batista
INTRODUCTION
Welcome writers and aspiring authors! I am so excited you’re here. This book is long overdue, but right on time! We are living through an incredible moment in history. The world is changing rapidly. We have all lived through some crazy events. With more and more people finding themselves at home, and with our roles and time constraints ever-evolving, now more than probably any other time is the perfect time to finish that book you have been thinking about writing. Today is the day you start fulfilling that dream of becoming an author. Whether you’ve already got a manuscript underway or you’re just thinking about possible ideas, you can go from a blank slate to published author in the next three to six months. This is your ultimate blueprint.
I believe everyone has at least one book in them that should be shared with the world. Today you take that next step to doing just that. I hope you’re excited!
I’ve condensed all the knowledge and experience I have acquired over these past 11 years as a self-published author, speaker, and trainer to mentor as many people as I can reach. I am providing you with information I wish I had all those years ago when my self-publishing journey began.
Whether you want to write one book or multiple books, you can absolutely do it. The first one is the hardest one, but it is completely within reach! This step-by-step blueprint will hold your hand from beginning to end through the self-publishing process. This is not a book on grammar or writing techniques. It is literally a map that lays out the self-publishing steps in order. Remember, you still have to do the work and get the writing done. The length of time each step can take will vary based on your genre, your writing style, your efforts, and the time you put into this process. I encourage you to read through it as you work on your project. Keep looking toward that finish line. Your success is completely up to you, but you are now armed with a vital tool. I am so thrilled and happy for you!
HOW DO I USE THIS BLUEPRINT?
The way you maximize all the information and guidance in this blueprint is to use it in conjunction with your writing. Each chapter will give you an assignment with instructions to move your book project forward. You can do multiple assignments at one sitting; you do not have to let days or weeks go by in between assignments. Many of them go together, so they should be done concurrently or consecutively. For this reason, I suggest you read through the first seven chapters and then go and do each of the assignments. By the time you get to the second half of the book, you’ll be almost done with your writing. During each assignment you should write down the name of the assignment, so your notes remain clear. I like this way of working because it’s like doing homework that moves you forward and makes you apply what you learned for the immediate advancement of your project. It helps you get things done quickly, and that is the whole point of using this blueprint. You are winning!
Of course, you’re welcome to read the entire blueprint from beginning to end and then go back and start your writing. I encourage my students to always find and define the processes that work best for you. Just like there are no two people who are exactly the same, there is no rule that says you have to do things in the exact same way I choose to do them. This blueprint is just here to shorten your learning curve so that you don’t have to stumble and bumble around like I did when I was publishing my first book. There are many ways to get to the same finish line. I am showing you the things I’ve learned and I’m suggesting habits and practices that have worked and continue to work for me and other successful authors. You will discover your own flow through this process; you’ll learn your work style and develop the work ethic, habits and rituals that work for you.
THE BLUEPRINT OVERVIEW
Let’s clarify the broad picture so that you can see it in your mind. Your publishing journey will go through the same steps whether you self-publish or go through a large or small publishing house.
Here is an overview of those steps:
• Planning
• Writing
• Editing
•
