    Introduction

One of my favorite authors* wondered what thoughts went through people’s minds when they came to the line in John Newton’s hymn Amazing Grace that says, Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. The word wretch is what he focused on. He wondered how you, me as I was reading, felt when singing that line. Do we really understand the word wretch as we smilingly sing that line? Maybe we don’t like that word at all, I’m not a wretch. I don’t know about you, but the me in I embrace that line and that word especially in my favorite song of all times. I can relate to being a wretch, I know that in my life there have been times that I have truly been a wretch. I don’t even need to have someone explain what it means. Maybe that’s why I like the song so much. This wretch was saved by God’s grace.

I have found His grace. In the good, the bad, and the wretched ugly, there is always a rhyme when I take the time to let Him write my life’s lines. When I listen, I can hear the sound; when I open my eyes, I am found. And as the world turns round His blessings abound.

No matter who we are, what we are, and where we are, God is there waiting for us to take His outstretched hand and offer us His grace; salvation for all sinners through the sacrifice for our sins of His sinless son, Jesus.

A song from my youth said, All you need is love. Not quite, not just any love, all you need is God’s love.

The following pages are my journey by His grace. May your journey be filled with grace as you run the race.

    Dedication

    We all know that Jesus

    Is the Son of God

and the Holy Spirit completes the Trinity.

From the beginning of time and even before,

Jesus, as God, with the Holy Spirit

created the earth and all we know as good.

So, though not always mentioned as Jesus,
