    Introduction

    My strong, independent mother raised me. I was the first in my family to become a doctor. I successfully finished medical school in four years while being a wife and raising two small children, and during residency I became Chief Resident. After residency, I became a mother again to two more children. I have been married for twenty-three years, and my kids are now twenty, seventeen, twelve, and ten years of age. And now, I have started my own business, a virtual medical practice specializing in medical weight loss management . . . a dream come true. But despite my success, I have faced a struggle common to many moms.

    I gained weight after having my last child. I was depressed, had low energy, didn’t like how I looked in my clothing, and was not feeling sexy. I stayed at home, slept a lot, and wasn’t attending functions. I didn’t feel well mentally or physically! At the age of forty, I decided to focus on losing weight and took the first steps to change my life. I became more diligent in taking care of myself! I changed my diet to low carbohydrate and high protein meals, coupled with a fitness regimen, which at times was a struggle. I lost thirty pounds in four months and felt great about myself. I felt more positive, more productive, and happier, but more importantly, I felt more energized than ever. I got my sexy back!

    I offer my medical expertise to help many moms start their weight loss journey and successfully reach their goal. They feel sexy again! It gives me great joy to see my patients lose weight, feel better, and, most importantly, improve their overall health. This is why I have written this book: to help moms bounce back after pregnancy.
