    About the Author

    Introduction

THIS BOOK ıs dedicated to that little girl that came to the U.S. and got lost in self-hate because she was not accepted. She lost her way just wanting to be loved some kind of way but never finding it until she finally looked at herself. You spent so many years looking in the mirror looking for another reflection to stare back when all along, you didn’t see you. The beauty in your creativity. The beauty in your raspy voice. The beauty in what made you unique from everyone else. You have found who you are now and now it’s time to help other young people find who they are. She was lost but now she is found. Now we must help others find themselves. Thank you to my mother for never giving up on me and the rest of my family for all the love and support. God is never last but; He is always first! I want to end this dedication with Him because my love for Him is never-ending. He is why I live, He is why I am, He is why I serve. Now let’s become Trendsetters .

    Preface

SITTING AND TELLING you my whole story would probably leave you in shock that I am the woman I am today. Aisha, a Trendsetter, NEVER. I didn’t win the " Most Likely to Succeed award, Most Popular or anything like it if anything I would have received the Most Likely to Stay Shy . This military leader that you see today was once someone who ran from confrontation or anything connected to leading. If anything? I was led into the wrong directions more times than often as a young girl. This was all because I wanted to fit in more than embrace who I was. It all started when I migrated to The United States. I had never had been on a boat or plane before but looked forward to coming to America. It was nothing like the movie and although I would love to say that I was an African princess, I was like any other girl who came from a foreign land. I found myself walking on a bus excited to kick off the day at my new school. Can I sit here ?", I asked the young boy and he nodded NO . I moved to the next set of seats
