    Preface

This may seem like an odd title for a book, but being a boomer myself and having experienced life in the church in the U S for the last 30 years or so, I think it can be a challenging question. My experience may be somewhat limited to cover such a broad topic as this, but I would like to offer a challenge to my generation to consider our impact on the church both present and on into the future. As a layman who has served in many roles within the church, I can probably relate to many of you who have had similar experiences, both positive and some that were not so compelling let’s say.

If you are looking for a dynamic treatise, this is definitely not it. And so now I would like to highlight some of my concerns with the church as we have influenced it to meet our needs and expectations.

But I want to look at this from a different perspective. Why I am choosing to use flakes instead, relates to all of the church and denominational hopping that our generation seems to have engaged in over the last 30 years or so.

Just so you don’t think I am pointing fingers; my wife calls us Chatho-Congo-non denoma-Baptists. Which lays out the path we traveled in our journey, coming to Christ in our thirties. We had to learn that not all teaching is biblical. I also know there are a good number of boomers who stayed true to their church and/or denomination. What I am saying is that we have had
