Diary of a Minecraft Noob Steve Book 2 - MC Steve

    Sunday- Slimes on the Roof

Have you ever crafted something so big and complicated and awesome that you hesitate when you are just about done because you have had so much fun and you don’t want the fun to end?

That’s how I felt building my new tree house: like I was about to finish the best, most fun chapter of my life and nothing else would ever be as awesome or fun as building that house had been.

But I knew I had to finish. So I did.

Well, here it goes, I said to my dog, Dog, who sat in the middle of the floor like I’d told her to do while I finished crafting the tree house from the outside in.

The second I added the last block to the new and improved tree house, I could have sworn I heard it start to rain.

This was a big deal. It had not rained in almost three weeks here in the forest. I liked it better when it rained. Sometimes it was just nice to have a break from all the sun.

It had been hot. All the friendly mobs had been hiding out in the shade of the jungle trees. Even Dog, who was usually right by my side all hours of the day, had been hesitant to follow me on short trips out to the lake for water and harvesting sugarcane. There was no shade to hide in out there. There were no clouds in the sky.

Hear that? I said to Dog, whose tail was wagging back and forth with excitement. On the roof. It sounded like…

Rain. It had to be. What else would be falling from the sky onto the roof like that?

I had never been as excited about rain as I was right then, but three weeks is a long time without it. I hurried down the ladder and looked up at the sky, expecting to see drops of water racing toward the ground…

That’s not what I saw, though.

It wasn’t rain falling from the sky. It was slimes.

Slime after slime after slime after slime.

They were everywhere. Stuck in trees, on top of tree houses, in gardens and all over the ground.

I blinked. Was this really happening? Was it really raining slimes?

Dog started barking and running in circles.

    It’s okay, girl, it’s okay!

I tried to reassure her, but the only time she won’t listen to me when I talk to her is when she’s afraid. I watched her run off into the trees without looking back. She wouldn’t be gone forever, but she would keep her distance until whatever was going on decided to calm down.

This is so bizarre, I said as I looked up at the sky, trying to shield my eyes to make sure no falling slimes hit me in the face. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Is the world ending?

No one was really around to answer me, so I decided to walk around and see if slimes were falling everywhere or just over the area. Before I could figure that out, the slime rain stopped.

It was a lot better without the rain, but now there were slimes all over the ground. So many you almost couldn’t walk without almost stepping on one of them.

Hey, I said, bending down to get a closer look at one. I didn’t usually talk to mobs, but slimes have never intimidated me like zombies or skeletons. What’s going on? Are you here to suffocate me, or—
