    Dedication

It is only my reasonable service to dedicate this book to the Lord, who continues to reveal His purpose in me and to me.

I am so grateful for what He has shown and continues to show me, and I know that He does this

so I might share it with others.

    So… I write!

    Acknowledgments

First, I want to acknowledge my pastor, the Bishop-Elect Marvin L. Winans, who continues to be a vessel that God is using to love on me and instruct me in a big way. Thank you.

Special thanks also to my awesome publisher, Ellen Sallas, for her amazing work, encouragement, and kindness toward me.

I also want to thank my wonderful wife, LaTonya, my biggest supporter, who continues to motivate, assist, and pray for me, allowing me to bounce my thoughts off of her at all times. I love you, sweetheart, and I don’t know what I would do without you.

Last, but definitely not least, to my son and my babies, George Jr., Joi Joi, Judaea, and Junia, who keep me youthful and energized. I love you.

    Introduction

    Commanded to Live by Faith

We are not only encouraged as believers to walk (live) by faith, but we are also commanded (and expected) to live by faith. The Lord commanded us to do so because He wants us to receive the results in our lives that He has planned for us, and He knows that the only way we will be able to do that is to live by faith. Because of this, I thought it noteworthy to expend some time and effort to try to not only help someone else to live by faith, but also to attempt to make the transition as user-friendly as possible. After all, living by faith is what pleases God, and that is, according to the Bible, why He created us in the first place: to please Him and to glorify Him. Read Revelation 4:11 and Hebrews 11:6 below:

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created (Revelation 4:11 KJV).

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6 KJV).

Since it is not possible to please Him without faith—without living by faith—I know you can see the need to work on our faith continually, day in and day out. So… I write!

    Chapter One - The Source

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach (Romans 10:8 KJV).

    The Word of Faith

God has taken faith and put it inside His Word, just like a pharmacist takes medicine and puts it inside a capsule. And, just as essential as medicine is to the malady the pharmacist is treating, likewise is the Word of God essential to our faith for whatever we are facing in life.

As a matter of fact, the sage said that it is comparable to medicine and is health to all our flesh. See Proverbs 4:20-22:

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-22 KJV).

Faith is not only an essential part of our lives as believers, it is our life. Faith is to the believer what oxygen is to the body: life! We cannot live spiritually without it, and we must take it just that seriously. If we don’t take it seriously, we set ourselves up for disaster, because we have been commanded to live by faith. See Habakkuk 2:4 and Romans 1:17:

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith (Habakkuk 2:4 KJV).

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17 KJV).
