Foreword
In memory of Doctor Philip H. Groginsky, who risked his life to help the Fishman (Fields) family in 1918 when a Spanish flu killed twenty-one million people worldwide. He signed both a death certificate and a birth certificate for Sydney Fields, who was born one day after his father died.
One hundred years later, Sydney’s ten-million-dollar assets were stolen by five nieces-in-law of his predeceased third wife. A will drafter made a sworn statement to support them and dismissed it later. He had no witnesses, no video and audio tapes to record his service for the 96-year-old blind testator. Yet, a judge accepted that will
and created a tragedy in U.S. courtrooms.
The Fields family got nothing after spending one hundred thousand dollars in legal fees. However, they noticed and appreciated the love that Sydney had for his family. The tragedy that continued for one hundred years should be memorialized as well.
About this Case
This book is about a court case we filed in 2016. Sydney Fields altered his will after his third wife died. He was 96 years old, blind, and had no Fields’ family members around him at the moment. On April 19, 2016, without any support from witnesses, videotapes, or audiotapes, the will drafter, Curtain, swore that Sydney intended to distribute all his ten million dollars to the five nieces of his deceased third wife and leave nothing to the Fields family. Compared with the previous two wills, that probated will increased Palmeris’ shares from 1% to 100% and decreased Sydney’s donations from five million dollars to fifteen hundred dollars. On the court hearing day, Curtain’s lawyer dismissed his April 19, 2016 affidavit. However, Judge Mella still relied on that sworn statement to release the probate and left Sydney’s autistic son in the welfare system.
From 2018 to 2021, our six appeals were rejected by three courts. The U.S. Supreme Court required all the briefs and documents to be presented as a book. When that book was placed in front of me, I decided to publish it and introduce the justice we have in the United States. It seems that our lawmakers tend to protect each other and prefer to do nothing. They care about their own dignity but not the dignity of our laws. That is why so many Americans protested in the streets, and I protested in the book market instead.
In those days, many things happened coincidentally, which made the case continue. It looked like a secret power was guiding us, and that made me believe this is not the end of the story. In 2020, I submitted this case to the NYS Commission on Judicial Conduct
and Attorney Grievance Committees.
I got no response until 2023.
During 2016, I was dating and was interrupted strangely. I exploded for no reason and broke up with men who had good backgrounds and meant to accept me. Men who seemed right for me all lived far from New York, or they moved out of the city suddenly. The one who lived in New Jersey had the worst car traffic in his life on the way he visited me. Either one of us would be seriously sick when we were together.
I decided to get off the dating website. I even told my sister that it seemed Richard Fields, my ex-husband, still needed me.
