As the trial draws closer, Kari is moved into a safe house. However, she is only there a few hours into the night when a break-in occurs and an attempt on taking her life is made. Kari is forced to leave the house in the middle of the night in the cold without a coat in unfamiliar surroundings while running for her life. She does manage to grab her cell phone and holes up in an unusual place to call the only person she trusts, Marc.Marc is stunned at Kari’s predicament, but immediately rushes to find her and take her to safety. Another attempt is made on both their lives this time, and Marc is left with doubts as to whom he can trust in law enforcement. He decides to take Kari off-grid until the trial to ensure her survival. He admires her not falling apart in these extremely dangerous times, especially since she is pregnant with her first child. Can Marc really protect her against so many without knowing whom is worthy of his trust with their lives at stake?Kari and Marc are forced to flee all they know to survive; however, they know the One who watches over them. Through the tough events they encounter, they both put their lives in God’s hands. I like how these books start off with a bang and just keep the action going page after page. Before you know it, you are at the peak of the story ready for the descent to the ending. The message of faith in book after book by this publisher is something I like as it keeps a constant message in front of me of a God who answers prayer and gives us what He knows we need. These books make great stocking stuffers!
