About this ebook
"The Art of Soul Searching" is a collection of poems written in many forms of stories, tales, and allegories to discover healing after a series of heartbreaks and strikes by life itself. Each page displays a heartfelt poem that is written rhythmically to allow the reader to depict the messages and use them to empower one's self. My purpose is to inspire those who read my poetry to take their own journey into self discovery as it is so worth it to accept yourself as imperfect.

The Art of Soul Searching - Hallie E. Roberts
Wild One
Even before my life begun,
I was nicknamed the wild one.
Birthed at the wits end of destruction.
Baby bundled in the abundance of corruption and
abandoned in public.
The universe wanted custody of my soul and it won.
From the concrete I arose and grew up the child of the sun.
I often question will I make it out alive in the city that I'm from.
Where there remains adolescents who are dressed in depression after witnessing the broken system. Following sources of protection killing their loved ones after mistaking a pencil for a gun.
A camouflage city of sin every one blended in so I picked up a pen and rarely spoke.
Saved myself and killed all doubts inside of me.
A poetic hero.
Not a soul can quote they molded or made me,
I'm aligned to the creator.
Poetry locks my indifference inside an incubator.
Elevation requires separation but the journey alone is
difficult to be faced with.
Love is a concept that has been mistaken in my generation.
Love struck stories have transformed into love stuck horrors.
Secrets and infidelity snuck into the equation.
Bad habits and attachments have been the replacement.
Now everyone's motivation is to escape their current situation.
Love should define my love language without me
having to explain it.
Dear Eternal Life,
Before I transcend I pray that I am connected
with a kindred spirit.
I wish to only fall in love once to escape broken
hearted bitterness.
Embracing patience as true love awaits to
discover me in the Wilderness.
Business Trip
I booked a trip to my past.
I had some things to take back.
The first to go were Insecurities.
Broken promises & Trauma were each packed individually.
Frustration grew impatient so I zipped him in with Neglect as he sat waiting.
Fear's heart wouldn't stop racing.
To get Anxiety to come along,
I told her we were going places.
Doubt & Worrisome fit into my carry on.
Empathy was saddened she couldn't come.
Consistency's job was to stay behind to keep her strong.
Drama sobbed as I dragged her along.
I approached the plane but noticed I left out Pain,
Suddenly she came & limped on just as I boarded.
Negativity sat next to me, it was inevitable I'd absorb it.
So I turned away.
It just so happens that the face of Rejection was my window's reflection.
The pilot took off.
That's when I reached in my pocket and pulled out Depression.
I didn't regret him.
He taught me some of life's most valuable lessons.
The entire flight I held him in my hand.
As soon as I dozed off,
The plane began to land.
I grabbed all of my baggage.
Trouble & Childish were laughing as I walked out of the cabin.
I opened the door of the cab then gently tossed in my Insecurities.
Neglect fit next to them perfectly.
Frustration took his place while Anxiety scurried into the back seat.
I had to sneak my Fears in the trunk while they were still asleep.
Doubt & Worrisome we're buckled in the seats that were boosters.
Depression was still in my hand.
He couldn't comprehend why it had to end.
Even though our relationship was abusive.
I looked him in the eyes and asked
Why did you do it?
He shrugged his shoulders,
& said to me
"I just thought you should know that this world is the coldest.
Life sent you to me, in order to show it."
We both shed tears of the departure.
