A Stronger Me - Chelsie James
One
Introduction
My Story
I’m Chelsie, Chels for short. I’m the creator, founder and girl behind A Stronger Me
Grief Guide. I want to share with you my own grief story, how I found myself here to this day. So grab a cup of positivi-tea, get yourself comfy, sit back and read on.
At the young age of 22, I lost my Dad Robert (he was known to most as Bob), hence the sentimental meaning behind Bereavedat22. I lost my amazing Dad unexpectedly and very suddenly due to heart failure. One day he was here, the next he was gone. He was only 54 too, so to lose him so early on in my own life at an age I never imagined is pretty hard to put into words. I still feel robbed of the future that I should have had with him. I’m sure you might feel the same about your loved one(s) too.
I personally felt quite isolated in the early stages of my grief, as I didn’t really know anyone my age who had experienced a bereavement. I was struggling to find others of my age that could truly relate in their own personal way. I was searching for others to connect with, people who I could identify with. Those who might be able to help me to understand this dreadful experience and if everything I was thinking, feeling and doing was normal
and that I wasn’t totally alone in my grieving journey.
So, that’s why my grief blog, bereavedat22.co.uk was initially created to build my own grief community, to not only help myself, but serve others along the way too. Fast forward to now since I started it, I have connected with so many of you around the world through my blog and social media channels, having heartfelt, teary, and happy conversations together, talking about our loved one(s) and sharing our grief stories and relating to one another in our own unique ways.
I can’t put into words just how much this has helped me to process and navigate my own grief. The wisdom and inspiration I have received from connecting with you, the friendships I have made. It’s just been incredibly amazing to think how grief brings people together.

Me holding butterflyWhy I wrote the book
This book was once just an idea as I sat journalling, scribbling my morning thoughts onto paper. I can remember sitting and having a moment of realisation. I wished I had something like this as a resource of support, so I wanted to change that and make this happen for others.
I wanted to share parts of my own grief story with you, but I also wanted to include advice and guidance from a qualified bereavement counsellor. I found Clare Williams to help me do that. You will see that Clare features throughout the guide and you will learn from her as the guide goes on.
Although it’s only three years since my Dad passed, I have channelled my own grief into creating the guide. It’s been so helpful to get me through my tough grief days and it’s given me the purpose and motivation to keep going. Even if it provides a tiny bit of uplifting grief support to you, wherever you may be, and if it helps just one of you, that’s all that matters. I hope this book will become your companion guide.
Please, keep strong and remember; you’re never alone on your grief journey.
How this book will benefit you
Thank you for purchasing this guide. Whether it’s a gift from a friend or loved one; or from you, to you. My love and thoughts are with you, I just know how tough this never-ending grief journey is.
In the world of grief we live in, our days can be dark and gloomy. This is your empowering and confidence-filling reminder that each day you get through is an achievement. For every sad moment there are also happy and joyful moments that make up our day and our worlds, but sometimes, understandably, we can find it difficult to experience happiness when we’re grieving the loss of a loved one.
As you may have noticed, this guide has been created to be all things uplifting and to help you to explore your grief in the most helpful
