Treat Your Asthma Naturally - How To Use Natural, Drug Free Ways To Treat Your Asthma - Chandra Cunningham

    Introduction

Have you been diagnosed with asthma, or has someone you know been diagnosed with it? If this is the case, you may be perplexed by the questions that no one seems to be able to answer.

As you will discover as you read through this book, one of the reasons why asthma sufferers are frequently left in the dark about their condition is that, while the basic definition of asthma is simple, almost everything else about the condition is not.

As a result, I'm going to try to answer as many asthma-related questions as I can in this book. Then, I'll go over a number of natural asthma treatments that have been shown to be effective.

    Chapter 1: What Is Asthma

The first question to answer is, What exactly is asthma?

Fortunately, this is the simplest of all the asthma questions to answer because the medical community as a whole agrees on how to define and classify asthma.

Doctors agree that asthma is a respiratory disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways.

Because asthma can begin with something as simple as a common cold or cough, people frequently exhibit symptoms long before asthma develops. Sneezing, mild shortness of breath, or even something outside your lungs or respiratory tract, such as a headache, are all symptoms of asthma.

The bottom line is that the early signs of asthma are frequently ignored because they appear to be nothing more than symptoms of a common, everyday condition such as a cough or a cold. One of the main reasons many people do not seek treatment for their asthma is a lack of awareness.

According to the Asthma Society of Canada, up to six out of ten Canadians with asthma do not have control over their condition. This figure is likely to be comparable in other developed Western nations.

Asthma is a chronic condition that must be managed for the rest of your life. It causes inflammation, which constricts the airways that carry oxygen to your lungs. As a result, the passage of air from the outside world through an asthmatic's lungs is restricted, making breathing difficult.

The airways of asthma patients are sensitive to a variety of conditions, including moist, warm, or cold air, allergens, stress, or physical exertion. The muscles that surround the airways contract and narrow the airways of a person with asthma in response to these conditions.

The problem is generally exacerbated by the fact that the muscles produce excess mucus at the same time as they contract, further clogging the airways.

Many of the most common symptoms of an asthma attack, on the other hand, can often be identified well before the condition itself has fully developed.

Some asthma symptoms are obvious, while others may be difficult to detect and may be the result of another medical condition. The earlier in the development cycle of asthma or the less likely that the symptoms will turn into asthma, the
