What the Video Vixens of 2008 Taught Me - Elizabeth Clyde
Dedication
To my amazing husband, Jeral and loving strong righteously cool son’s--I knew that having a family would be one of the greatest joys in my life. I love you so dearly, and I did not expect it to be this much fun!
I continue to achieve more personally and professionally because I have your love to fill me up. Thank you, Mr. Clyde for dispelling the myth that wives and mothers must abandon their dreams. You have continued to encourage me to always strive for more and I hope you know that I strive to do the same for you. To infinity & beyond!
To the God in me, who constantly reminds me that in order to live in the Kingdom I must not harbor anything but goodwill towards myself and fellow man. I truly strive for that and thank God for the being, doing, and having power to have all of the success I desire. I look forward to continued glory as I walk in the Kingdom of God.
To you the reader, I’ve come a long way, and this book may shock you. It is not what you think and some of this I didn’t plan to share, but if it can help you get to your destiny on time, what the heck, why not? Enjoy, and I know if you are reading this you are going to do great things in life! Keep believing and always remember to be original because everyone else is taken.
To my parents, you never stopped me from being me. Thank you.
To my siblings, you guys are super cool kids, and I love you.
Be it done for you as you desire.
Matthew 15:28
Foreword
When I met my wife I thought she was an undercover night life party girl. Though we did party a little, in What the Video Vixens of 2008 Taught Me is the story of how Elizabeth became known in the entertainment world for being a beautiful leader.
She has always been dedicated to supporting and inspiring me with my talents as I am to supporting her. She is the true definition of a lady in the streets… you know the rest.

Introduction
The game of life and how to play it.
- Florence Scovel Shinn
In 2008, I was a student at Clark Atlanta University where I majored in Psychology.
Simultaneously, I was a student in the game of life being led by women who were the Video Vixens of that era. Some of their little sisters were my close friends and others let me tag along.
From night clubs to strip clubs I was allowed in as a VIP guest before I turned 21, which meant they were giving me pointers on what to do and what not to do. Back then it was $100 a head if they weren’t checking ID.
I never paid a dime; I just played my position and walked through.
I am telling you my experiences and even with the Video Vixens guidance and others along the way I still got myself into sticky (i.e. sketchy) situations that by God’s grace and favor I somehow made it out alive. I believe it was to impart this wisdom to you.
Fast forward to now, a lot of the principles I learned from that environment allowed me to function in the entertainment industry independently for more than a decade. I later married my husband who comes from a family in the entertainment space and we run a media empire together.
A Video Vixen during that time was the chosen main girl in the music video. She was a model, actress, and sometimes producer. She had a voice and a real role in the part she was playing.
One of the biggest pieces of advice they indirectly gave me was don’t try to be known before your time. You run the risks of embarrassing yourself and your descendants. I have taken my time in hopes that you will do the same.
Read this book, apply these principles, and most of all take your time...
Seek respect more than attention, eventually you will have both.
CHAPTER 1
How you enter is what you become known as…
How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something but someone.
I
f you enter a party drunk, you may become known as one, and that is just one of the clearest examples I can give you.
Before you think this book isn’t going to be worth your while I want you to know if you look back on music videos during the era of 2005-2010 you may recognize some of the same women as leading ladies. In current times, there are multiple women in one video and not exactly one main lead.
Again, to protect the brands of the video vixens that taught me I have no reason to give their names. Most are quietly happily married, dating their equals, and each has a successful business.
Let me add, the men they are connected to are high performing and well known across professional industries. I applaud them because the entire vision for one's life must include strong personal relationships as well.
These were the first women that once social media hit and they began their clothing lines they were flying across the world using the best fabrics for their pieces. I saw this first hand with one vixen in particular. She still has her clothing line and it is the best quality of fabrics because she stayed focused on her craft.
I digress, you may have an interest in working in fashion, public relations, or even becoming an actress or model—these are all attainable goals, but what’s the blueprint? What is the road map to get you from where you are right now to where you want to be?
Well, let me preface this by saying you are going to need hands-on experience to see if it’s really an industry you can handle. An internship or a job within the entertainment space is very important because the entertainment industry will swallow you up and spit you right back out if you don’t go in with a plan. In this chapter we are going to begin carving out a roadmap, you’re welcome. ;)
I want you to actually write down the answers to these questions and they are written to you personally:
1. What has inspired you to work in the entertainment space?
2. Can you
