CHAT #1
The other day I got a really bad cut on my finger . . . thankfully, I had a clean wash cloth in the car so I began to apply pressure to the cut to stop the bleeding—I got home and ran some cold water over it and realized that even though I applied pressure to my finger, the blood continued to flow out—the cool water made my finger feel better—however—I was unable to stop the bleeding . . . I applied more pressure and eventually the bleeding stopped—even though the bleeding stopped, I realized that I had pain on the area in which the bleeding had started—what have I done? Why is it hurting after I stopped the bleeding? So now I clean it (so that it won’t get infected) and dress it up with gauze and a band-aid . . . felt a little better—however now I am impaired . . . I can’t write, type or eat properly because of the dressing up
of my finger—then I said to myself, that’s it I am going to take this off and expose my pain so that it can get better—I need to let it breathe.
Two days later I noticed something amazing . . . my finger began to heal itself, without cream or ointment being applied—how could this be? I realized that I hindered myself from being healed because of the fact that I covered things up.
Life is so much like my situation—when we have been hurt by someone or something . . . the first thing we do is look for something to stop the pain from flowing—when the flowing feeling of pain ceases (which is other folks knowing your business) then we assume that all is well—when in reality there is a wound that needs to be attended to—we sometimes place things over our wounds and when we do that we unknowingly hurt other people . . . because hurting people hurt people—we have to be honest with ourselves and admit that we have not moved pass the pain points in our life—we have to bring our pain to the light—"God is light and
