Inspiration: Volume 2. an Anthology of Contemporary Poetry, Music & Prose

About this ebook
This book is about life and how to attain or approximate our most important aspirations. It is designed to benefit everyone involved in any kind of venture, or relationship. The book is especially important to people who, on a daily basis, have to achieve important (personal or business) objectives by persuading others to see things their way, or at least to meet them half way for a constructive and beneficial outcome.
This book is about life in all of its aspects. It attempts to reach and be helpful to each reader in most aspects of life, which the reader may need to improve, or re-evaluate. Part of the objective of this book is to make a person acting in an informed manner, become more comfortable with the choices that may from time to time be made. Understanding why those choices were made, and owning the benefits and being prepared to stoically deal with the attendant consequences that may flow from those choices.
To be sure, this book is partly a concession to the sometimes unfathomable world in which we live. It is therefore no more than my own imperfect effort of attempting to make some sense out of how and why things are the way they are. How and why things have tended to work best for most people who have been deemed successful in various aspects of human endeavor, whether as a great parent, effective leader, a good advocate, an inspired creator of abundant wealth, an admired citizen, a trusted partner, or a great friend.
Briefly, therefore, this book is divided into three broad chapters. Each chapter is further sub-divided into appropriate sections, for an easy and hopefully logical flow. Chapter one attempts to lay out the general foundation for the kinds of issues and challenges to be addressed. Chapter two addresses these issues in the context of various life circumstances and relationships we each find, or may from time to time, find ourselves. Chapter three, the last chapter, hopefully succeeds in tying it all together. The goal of the book is achieved. By the time one completes reading the book, each reader will be able to identify a personal road map for success. And this road map is applicable to whatever field of endeavor, or aspect of life, that each person may desire greater measure of success.
As we each pursue our respective aspirations which could range from a desire to be loved and embraced; a quest to be perceived as worthy; an important recognition, respect, reward, or some other opportunity, it is very important to be very cognizant of the kinds of actions, attitude, or mind set, that are more likely than not, to aid us in attaining the ultimate goal we crave. I call the constructive application of these various life tenets, THE WINNING FORMULA.

4887-AKIN-layout.pdfDEDICATION
To the tender loving care offered by a parent; the gift of companionship of a lover; the wealth of loyalty bestowed on a friend and the uncorrupted innocence of childhood.
To the fresh memory of Akindele Akintola, who passed away before he was able to hit his stride.
To the inspiring struggle of Kunle Ayodele, whose young appetite for life remained robust and dynamic till the very end.
Finally, to the fond and loving memory of my paternal grandmother,
Madam Rachel Famutola Odagbodo Akindele, who truly honored me with the best kind of love;
the unconditional love.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
FIRST, I honor the parents who raised me.
I acknowledge my father, for being an exemplary mentor, a reliable confidante and a trusted friend.
I acknowledge my mother, for a life of daring, compassionate caring and INSPIRING integrity.
I will have lived a full and successful life, the moment my own children each arrive at the level of confident love, admiration and awe I have for both of you.
I acknowledge the very vivacious Atoke. And with as much gusto as I can muster, I effusively acknowledge each of my children. In reality, my children continue to be the most important source of INSPIRATION for me. I am enchanted by your respective personalities; intrigued by the significant strides you make each day toward adulthood, and privileged to have been a part of it all, every step of the way.
The poetry in my soul, the music that I make and the melody of it all, are consciously designed to robustly orchestrate my eternal devotion to each of you.
FOREWORD
THIS book is partly a celebration of the wisdom of my forefathers. It is also a tribute to a number of other INSPIRED people, who have come before me. In this book, I have at- tempted, with a little poetic license, to honor their memory by highlighting some of their teachings and the INSPIRA- TIONAL impetus they have given to my life. I will therefore commence, by sharing with you, the following lessons, gleaned from their infinite wisdom. According to them, in order to live a truly full life, marked by supreme excellence and UNCOMMON INSPIRATION, they suggest that:
It is infinitely more rewarding, to:
Feel and care more than others think is wise;
Invest and risk
more than others think
is safe;
Aspire and dream
more than others think
is practical; and to
INSPIRE and expect
more than others think
is possible
INTRODUCTION
IF I WERE AN INSPIRATIONAL POET
Am I still required to think
that poetry flows like inebriating drink
the moment you permit your finger
to purposefully linger
on any chatter
that may matter
to the budding poet
reckoning to make a point?
Should I still hope
that rather than grope
for phrases that rhyme
for little children to mime
I may very well be knocked cold
and too much in a drunken stupor to take hold
of my conscious senses, yet, those magical and
INSPIRATIONAL rhymes
will still be cobbled together, for all little
children to mime?
How inspired must I be?
perhaps, like the tenacious and purposeful Bee
What initial price must I pay?
hopefully, no more than the penitent who kneels
to pray
Yet this humble drunken fool’s bold
reward he views as gold may yet be mined from a humble mind that
purposefully folds magically inspirational words on immortal tab-
lets to be told through songs for miming little children before
they are too old to be captivated by the magical rhymes that
need to take hold
So I mime
the rhymes
to the sensational
and the inspirational
chatters that hopefully matter
even as I grope
in hope for subjective acclaim
so I may claim and be acknowledged finally
and eternally to be that tenaciously inspirational poet
that succeeded in finally making his point
