    INTRODUCTION

The words in this book are my understanding of the words of Jesus.

I read the Bible from cover to cover as a teenager, although the first time I read it, I did not understand very much. The words of Jesus sounded a chord of truth in my soul. For many years thereafter, when I needed spiritual inspiration, I would read only the red print in my Bible. I have read the Bible from cover to cover many times, gaining a little more understanding each time.

About eighteen years ago I started to work on a comparative study of the four gospels of Jesus (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) using fifteen different versions of the Bible. I thought that consolidating the four gospels into one story would help make the words of Jesus become clearer.

I set about my task by extracting the exact quotations of Jesus from each of the four gospels. Then, I put each passage together in chronological order, combining all citations into one story. If a verse of the words of Jesus was repeated in one or more of the gospels, I would then write down all verses from all fifteen versions of the Bible. This would give me up to sixty verses. From the sixty verses, I would paraphrase that one verse, the truth as I understood it, to put in this book.

It has taken a lifetime of seeking the truth and eighteen years of intense study of the four gospels to complete JESUS THE WORD. I have also accumulated twenty additional versions of the Bible which I used to cross-check, verify and authenticate my work.

Along with these twenty additional versions and other books about Jesus, it has been like talking to a hundred and fifty witnesses to the events of Jesus’ life. I have taken these hundred and fifty different stories and rewritten them in my own words and understanding.

I hope that you take JESUS THE WORD and use the book to experience Jesus’ words in your heart, mind and soul. Through them, you can experience the truth for yourself.

    JESUS THE WORD:

"The kingdom of God does not come with visible signs. Nor shall you say here it is or there it is, for the kingdom of God is within you.

Do not resist evil with force.

Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you.

Do to others as you would want them to do to you.

Be merciful even as your Father in Heaven is merciful.

Be you perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.

Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive and you shall be forgiven.

Ask and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you. For every one who asks will receive. He who seeks will find. And to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

    Have faith in God.

Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours are the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

He who hears my words and believes in God who sent me has eternal life.

For whoever has, to him more shall be given and he shall have more abundance. Whoever has not, even what little he has shall be taken from him.

    Fear not, only believe.

"This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom He has sent.

I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall not hunger and he who believes in me shall never thirst.

Truly I say to you, he who believes in me already has eternal life.

He that eats the bread of life and drinks the living water dwells in me and I in him.

For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.

Blessed are they that hear the Word of God and obey it!

Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

If you have faith, all things are possible to him who believes.

If you would be first in the Kingdom, you must be last and the servant of all.

Whosoever humbles himself like this little child, the same shall become the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

If any man seeks to do God’s will, he will know whether my teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.

I have come from the Father, for He has sent me to tell you the truth.

I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness. He shall have the light of life.

If you abide in my word, then are you truly my disciples. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

He that is of God hears God’s words.

Truly I say to you, if a man keeps my word, he will never see death.

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me. For I am gentle and humble in heart and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

"First seek the Kingdom of God, and all things shall be given to you.

I have come to set the earth on fire with the truth.

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live. Whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.

They that are worthy of the resurrection are the sons and daughters of God.

The greatest Commandment of all is, Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is One. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the first and greatest Commandment. The second greatest Commandment is like the first. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There are no other Commandments greater than these. On these two Commandments hang all the law and the Prophets.

Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me. If you know me, you know the way to the Father.

Truth is the Word of God.

Not my will but Your Will be done.

My Kingdom is not of this world.

    Peace be with you.

Blessed are those who have not seen me and believe anyway.

    "THIS IS MY

    BELOVED SON,

    IN WHOM I AM

    WELL PLEASED.

    LISTEN TO HIM. "
