About this ebook

From the inspiration of the Holy Spirit came my desire to write this book for people to study with an open bible beside. Seeing the Scriptures twice would help remember them. God speaks to us today to his written word. If mankind would seek His Son Jesus Christ and see the many blessings that He has for them.

    PREFACE

I give thanks to Almighty God for giving wisdom to many writers whose works I have studied and found them in accord with the Word and will of God. I have written to them and spoken to them or their publishing officials over the phone, and they are in accord with what has been written here for your study with your Bible to KNOW THE TRUTH. For God’s truth will make you free and save your soul for eternity, to be with Him and His Son Jesus Christ. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Many thanks for brother in Christ; Andrew Brewster for taking the time to proof read the manuscript.

It is the wish of this compiler that these writings will set your heart and soul on a higher plane and draw you closer to God and to the knowledge of His will for your life. It is His will that none shall perish. II Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Remember that Jesus Christ came to seek

and save that which is lost. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost.

May God bless you to study these writings with your Bible and guide you to a closer walk with Him.

    Chapter 1

    WHAT IS TRUTH

The eternal quest of mankind is to find the Truth. The ultimate truth is found in the fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. If we fail to find this truth, everything else which we learn will be meaningless. This is the message for all mankind; John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Knowing the gospel of Jesus Christ is essential to becoming free from sin. A Roman governor asked the question, What is truth? John 18:38 Pilate said unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, I find in him no fault at all. Where does truth come from? From God! It is the character and divine righteousness of God. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and truth. Jesus spoke these words (John 4:24) to a woman of Samaria at the well. Note that the worship must be directed to God, in spirit and truth. Truth is our faith and belief in God and His Word; and the words of Jesus

Christ. Truth will cause you to willingly obey and keep Christ’s commandments. Matthew 22:35-40 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked Him a question, tempting Him, and saying, Ver. 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Ver. 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, Ver. 38 This is the first and great commandment. Ver. 39 And the second is like unto it. Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. Ver. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Read Mark 12:28-31. This question is asked again. What is truth? Truth is that which is reliable, trustworthy, and consistent with the character and revelation of God. Ascribed to:

Ascribe; to consider or declare as belonging; Assigned as an attribute; Description of a persons abilities; Characteristics of a person. We speak of the attributes of God. They are Divine; pertaining to God. Derived from God. Reflecting the attributes of God. God’s law: Psalms 119:42; 160 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is truth. It will not fail or run out. It will be there to support God’s children. Ver. 160 Thy Word is true from the beginning; and everyone of thy righteous judgments endureth forever. God’s Word is always true. From the beginning of time it has been the thing upon which man could depend. Christ: John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

No one can go to heaven except through Jesus Christ. There is no other name given under heaven whereby we must be saved. Holy Spirit: John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him, for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you unto all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come. The Holy Spirit is here identified as a person, the third person of the Godhead. He came for the purpose of guiding the apostles unto all truth. The truth is now written for us in the Bible, the Word of God. Truth is the written Word of God! God’s Word: John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy Word is truth. They were sanctified, or set apart, to the service of God by the Word of truth. The gospel is God’s informing power, reforming power, conforming power, transforming power. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Christ gave himself wholly to doing the Father’s will. We sanctify ourselves when we completely surrender to the will of God. Truth is to be obeyed: I Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned

love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently. Truth has been revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Truth is that only God can forgive sin, but it is necessary for us to repent in order to secure this forgiveness. The Gospel: Galatians 2:5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for and hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. Effort of, to:

Make free, Read John 8:31-32. They believed the truth and that faith was made perfect by obedience. It is necessary to continue in the Word of God to be a disciple of Jesus. Many have become disciples and then turned back and walk no more with Christ. John 6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back, and walk no more with Him. The preaching of Christ gave them an excuse to leave Him. Many members of the church have left because some preacher plainly preached the gospel. Such preaching gave them an excuse to leave the Lord’s church, but the real reason was that they had no root of faith within themselves. Jesus used the written Word of God in overcoming every temptation of Satan. Deuteronomy 8:3 And He humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and feed thee with man’-na, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God. Truth will give you the desire to study God’s Word! A poet wrote: You have time to take voyages over the sea. And time to take in the world’s jubilee. But soon your bright hopes will be lost in the gloom. Of the cold and dark river of death and the tomb. Truth will direct you to go and tell (teach) the gospel of Jesus Christ. Truth is known through faith! Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is the foundation. It is the conviction that we have believed the truth. Believe Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is, the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. All Bible faith comes by hearing the Word of God. A great preacher of another generation said: "I prayed that I might be strong in faith. Nothing happened. I discovered (Romans 10:17) and began to study the Word of God. I then became strong in faith." We may pray for wisdom to understand God’s Word. If it is in God’s Word it is a matter of faith. If anything cannot be found in God’s Word, it is not a part of the faith Christ has delivered to us. The purpose of the church is to put God’s Word into the hearts of men and women. It is the work of the Devil to take that word away, lest men (they) believe and be saved. Truth is: Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be dammed. He that believes the gospel, believes in Christ. And is baptized. One must not only believe in Christ, but obey His commandments to be saved. One who does not have faith enough to be baptized does not have faith enough to be saved. The oneness of truth: Singleness; unity; agreement; quality of being unique. One God; One Son; One Spirit; One Church that Christ established on the Day of Pentecost 33 AD in Jerusalem. Christ is the head of the church. One body; of Christ; One way to heaven. Jesus said I am the way (John 14:6). One way, One truth, One life. No other name under heaven: Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. They that are: faithful; willing; wholehearted; loving; obedient; obey. Again the question is asked; What is Truth? Truth is that God is love; Truth
