About this ebook

This cookbook is for the American cook who can be unconcerned on occasion with budgets, waistlines, time schedules, childrens meals, the parent-chauffeur-den-mother syndrome, or anything else that might interfere with the enjoyment of producing something wonderful to eat. Cooking well doesnt mean cooking fancy; it just means that anything you set your hand to makes good eating, be it mashed potatoes, chicken soup, meatballs, or a cake. Written for those who love to cook, the recipes are detailed as I have felt they should be so the reader will know exactly what is involved and how to go about it. This makes them a bit longer than usual, and some of the recipes are quite long but not out of the ordinary.

When I think of food I think of gathering around the table at Thanksgiving and Christmas saying grace before we eat a wonderful meal that looks as if it took hours to prepare. May this cookbook offer many contributions and opportunities with young families. This is the beginning of what I like to do and continue through years hoping to gain momentum and add more recipes for years to come. This cookbook was very easy to make and really turned out fabulous and celebrates food, culture and people. To my readers, I hope you gain much pleasure and many smiles come from these recipes. The recipes were created to share traditions and a love for food. It is an astonishing achievement and cooks will know this by word of mouth very soon, i’m sure. I hope to have achieved good examples in the following pages which include a great variety of dishes, but no exotic ingredients. Some are everyday cooking, some are dressy, and the recipes range from main courses and desserts to soups and cakes. In all the recipes especially in those for desserts and cakes I have taken full advantage of modern mechanical aids wherever I have found them effective. Some of the recipes are deliberately written for the beginner cook such as Lush Carrot Cake, Apple Crisp, Blueberry Scone, Blackberry Cobbler, Beef Stew and Meatloaf.

Cooking well doesn’t mean cooking fancy, it just means that anything you set your hand to makes good eating be it mashed potatoes, chicken soup, meat balls or a cake. Written for those who love to cook, the recipes are detailed as I have felt they should be so the reader will know exactly what is involved and how to go about it. This makes them a bit longer than usual, and some of the recipes are quite long but not out of the ordinary. It has classic American recipes arranged in sections according to ingredients. I hope to have achieved good examples in the following pages which include a great variety of dishes, but no exotic ingredients. Some are everyday cooking, some are dressy, and the recipes range from main courses and desserts to soups and cakes. In all the recipes and especially in those for desserts and cakes I have taken full advantage of modern mechanical aids wherever I have found them effective. Some of the recipes are deliberately written for the beginner cook such as Carrot Cake, Apple Crisp, Blueberry Scone, Sweet Blackberry Cobbler, Beef Stew and Meatloaf. The fresh vegetable section are rather few with new ways of cooking them, some examples are brussel sprouts, butternut squash, root vegetables and cauliflower.
