This book is dedicated to my family: Sallie, James, Duane, Kimberly, and Ariel Davis.
INTRODUCTORY
I always had the desire to write. When I was wounded in Viet Nam and I was hospitalized. I told the nurse, who had taken care of me, that one day I will be a writer.
Some thirty odd years later, that promise I made to myself came true. With the help of my grand daughter, I wrote twenty poems in one afternoon.
I hope you will enjoy these selections of poems, which I consider to be my best.
8147
The address is 8147, within those walls is nothing but love.
It’s like being in heaven at 8147.
Love for a mother, son, stepfather and a daughter, if you don’t have love in your heart, to enter through the door at 8147, just don’t bother.
The house foundation is made of love. The house is plain, but there is so much love, you would think that the house came from above. There is so much love at 8147, you would think that the house descent from heaven.
The dove represents peace, 8147 represents love.
To the fine folks that live at this address; thank you for letting my family and me enjoy a part of your life.
Now! I know what love is and what it means to experience a small piece of heaven at 8147.
A MAN, A WOMAN
A man needs a woman and a woman needs a man. That’s the way it is; it’s god’s plan.
Man was made by god’s hands and to keep him from being lonely, god made woman.
Woman was made for man. That’s why it’s god’s plan.
A woman will have labor pains and a man will work by the sweat of his brow. Thanks to Adam and Eve and what they did.
A man needs a woman and a woman needs a man. That’s the way it is. It’s god’s plan.
Now the time has come. I don’t want to be lonely, any more. I want to be your husband and I want you to be my wife. So, we can start a happy life.
I will give you kisses and hugs. I need you; I need your love.
I will build you a big house. So, we can make love all night; to start a family, to produce life.
To carry on my name, we need a baby boy and a baby girl, to bring us joy.
Nine months, you will carry our child and then the labor pains will come and they will last a while.
I will work by the sweat of my brow. To pay the bills, this I do know how.
A man needs a woman and a woman needs a man. That’s the way it is. It’s god’s plan.
AN ANGEL
One person can make all the difference in the world. There are sparkles in their eyes and a smile on their face. At bedtime they say their prayers and at dinnertime they say their grace.
You can have money, fortune and fame, but when you are out of the spot light only a few will remember your name. It’s not what you say; it’s what you do to show the world that you are true blue.
You can have fame and wealth. You can take care of your family and friends, but will they be there for you when your fame and wealth comes to an end?
When a person gives from the heart and looks for nothing in return, their cup over flow with blessing like never before.
In South Africa, aids is taking lives by the hundreds each and every day. Children are made homeless and are made orphans by this disease. There are children in South Africa, who don’t know what it is to have shoes on their feet or what it to sleep on a bed with clean sheets.
In every dark cloud there is a silver lining.
An angel of mercy from Chicago realized her true calling, her true purpose.
In South Africa, children raising children, most of them with aids and they too will die soon. The angel from Chicago heard the children of South Africa cry. Food, Clothes, Book Bags, Toys and Shoes she would buy. Off to South Africa she would go, to give to the children things they never had before.
While passing out gifts and giving her love, an evil in the form of a twister dropped from the sky, just to see who was there, who came by? The evil blew away a big white tent. Just
