The Father’s Gift
In the beginning, before it all,
Before the sun first learned to shine,
The Father sat on His heavenly throne,
And wrote down the course of time.
He called the work The Book of Life,
And it was perfect in faith and love,
Yet a single chapter went unwritten,
And it troubled the King above.
He reviewed the Book not once but twice,
Concluding it must be done,
The sinful humans need a savior,
And that savior must be His Son.
He needed someone perfectly worthy,
Raised above even death and pain,
He desperately searched His Angelic Choirs,
But the Father searched in vain.
Thus the Son left His heavenly throne,
And His army of angels too,
He took the form of a lowly human,
And the pain that would ensue.
He bent time and space to dwell with us,
At the Father’s chosen point,
In the presence of the lowly,
Who did, the Son, anoint.
So under the Father’s footstool,
In the appearance of a star,
The Christ entered the earthly realm,
Drawing shepherds from afar.
Thus beginning the greatest mission,
That Book of Life records,
One of love from the Father above,
The Mission of Our Lord.
