Simone Danielle

Simone Danielle is a twenty-four-year-old elementary school teacher living in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. She is the youngest of four siblings, which include three older brothers, and for the most part, she attended Maryland public schools in Prince George’s County. Simone received a bachelor of science in early childhood/special education and masters of education in reading from Bowie State University. A few of her interests include dancing, writing poetry, mentoring girls and young women, and other forms of community service. Simone’s decision to become an educator arose from her belief in the importance of education in today’s society. She wants to make an impact on her community and help empower young women and children, both directly and indirectly. She believes that constant growth involves self-assurance, encouragement, and uplifting oneself and that once these skills are mastered, it is imperative to pass this knowledge to others to stimulate strength and unity in our communities. She shares some of her thoughts and experiences through this selection of poems so other young girls and women might realize they are not so different at all.
