About this ebook

Authentic!
We talk a lot about the importance of prayer, but there is so little emphasis on how to pray. In Answer Me, Patti clearly walks you through various essentials of a vibrant prayer life with a refreshing sense of authenticity and vulnerability. I personally felt convicted and challenged by many of the Daily Thoughts and Prayers. I truly believe all Christians will experience great joy and growth by going through this guide.

Simple and Straight to the Point!
As an avid reader, an ardent researcher, one could expect Pattis works to showcase complexities of wisdom amassed from her extended spiritual and literary adventures, but this is not the case. Her style is simple and straight to the point. She puts the Word of God in our hands, kick starts us with some down-to-earth thoughts, and lets us dig in to find for ourselves all the treasures reserved in each days devotion to meet our personal needs. This devotional is a product of commitment and consistency that spans decades. May we all find therein, answers that only God can give us.

Finally, I thank my many friends and family members who supported and prayed for me throughout the entire writing process, from contract to finished book. To you, I am eternally grateful.

    Preface

When I was a young adult, I prayed over a major decision I needed to make. I prayed for an entire school year, asking God whether I should move from Ft. Worth, Texas, to Houston, Texas. I made a deal with God. I remember specifically telling God, I’ll read the Bible and pray until you give me an answer. It should not have been a surprise to me that I had to read the entire Bible ALL THE WAY THROUGH until I received the answer. The answer came through a verse in the New American Standard Bible which states, Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things. (Ecclesiastes 11:5)

Explaining how this verse told me to move to Houston is tough. However, I believe that the Holy Spirit used God’s Word to answer me and I did move to Houston.

Prayer journaling has been part of my life since I was 17 years old. I was prayer journaling before journaling was even popular. If you were to look in my closet, you would see 44 years of prayer journals on my upper shelf. So, it was natural when God said, Patti, I want you to write devotional prayer journals. This is what I have been preparing you for.

I am convinced Christians need to pray daily. Therefore, I wrote this devotional prayer journal Answer Me: Developing a Heart for Prayer to help others learn about the essentials of prayer and more.
