Just Do It - Pius Akor
My Holy Mediator
Who is she?
Fair as the moon
Bright as the sun
Terrible as army in battle array
The agenda of God on the 8th day of creation
The Holy begotten daughter of Anne and Joachim
The one who sneeze and make the devil looking for blanket
The Holy one born without the sin of our four fathers
My Holy Mediator.
How do I descript Her?
The spirit of the Legion
Her profound humility
Her perfect obedience
Her Angelic sweetness
Her continual prayer
Her heroic patience
Her heavenly wisdom
Her self-sacrificing courageous love of God
And of all,
Her faith.
To my step siblings
You despise Her
When you cry
She call you to Her chest
You drink from Her milk
Yet, you despise Her
I am a stubborn child
She despise me not
Each time I beg the father through the mother,
He grant it
Not for my being
For Her humble plead for me
Who the King has honoured,
No servant should DESPISE,
My Holy Mediator.
F.G
A time I seat but to wonder
What kind of children are these?
I could still see how things were before my parents met
I still had imagination of the love garden
I still feel the way I was happy before God formed me
I came during the eighty’s and it look like a dream
I grew up in changes
But they change from bad to worst
What an irony?
For our fathers wives gave birth to three monsters.
F.G should be ashamed bearing F.G as they act like L.G
Killing potentialities because of oil
You belong by owning a block
Papers developing wings
Signing deals without considering their brothers
For our fathers regret having them as sons and daughters of the house
Formulating policies for selfish gain
Representing self and families for what belongs to all
Making noise as if talking to illiterate
What a lost to a family?
Our inheritants now owned by few
The first born we see as CORRUPTION
They call it COMPENSATION.
Our wealth is made for provision and protection
People die even in the hands of the protectors
In our house we sleep without dreaming
Our fathers planned heaven for us
The children are building hell
The second born with the power of protection has gone coward
We are refugees in our father’s house because…
SECURITY has turned SECRETARY.
F.G you have failed us
Maybe we should turn to L.G
Our institutions should turn business centers
Instead of learning without getting jobs
Wasted youths are everywhere because the children failed the steps of their fathers
Creative youths can’t access fund
Because first born is in charge.
The third born is a wanderer
Because first born failed to plan
That is abuse of labour
They go disturbing others
Fetching from other people’s tap
Even sending some to world beyond
Making job more difficult for second born
There are other children
Some are planning
Some are failing
Is only that the first three are MEN
If only our fathers had known
They would have ……….
God Bless Nigeria.
It’s Provocation
Rich dad would say
Be smart to succeed in business
Poor dad would say
Read hard to get good grade for good jobs
Which could be true?
School tradition never dies
All most go to school
Not all will finish
Parents joy is to see children do well
Parents begin doubting the future for children below average
Test to primary school
Entrance to secondary school
After jamming jamb
Or through windows
University here I come.
After 2,4,5,or 6 years
Thank God
