Although, technically, puppies are young dogs, Puppy Pal Pointers: From the True Tails of Ripple and Jessie relates to dogs of all ages. This engaging educational book consists of subjects that are pertinent to every devoted pet owner, including caring for, understanding, treasuring, bonding with, and grieving for your dog. Topics pertaining to proper pet care and responsible ownership are covered, such as parasite control, vaccinations, hygiene, overpopulation concerns, health hazards, relationships with cats, the human-animal bond, aging, pet loss, and the grief process. Additionally, there is an entire section of stories dealing with many of these issues designed specifically for young children. Puppy Pal Pointers is different from other care books on pets because it is told through the insightful eyes of two beloved dogs (including one who fearlessly faced life’s challenges with only three legs). Their pictures, along with photos of their canine and feline peers, are used to emphasize certain points.
