    The Pensive Pen - D. J. Chakraborty

    A Newborn Baby

    A brand-new life

    Born of ancient ritual

    Awakens in time-honored tradition

    To bring forth new hope.

    Chart new courses never traveled.

    Teach lessons not yet known.

The tiny being holds such tremendous power

    To inspire unconditional love.

Evoke new visions of a brighter future.

Like the celestial magic of the stars,

Our fascination of you will never wane.

    A Renga on Renga

    Rengas’ origins

    In the country of Japan

    Nine centuries past

    Touching tercets of three lines

Joined by couplets of two lines

    And the poem is sung

    By tercets and couplets strung

    Linking heartfelt verse

    And Two Haiku Too

    I.   Red rose of winter

          Bravely blooming in the snow

          Petals fall like blood

II.   As the snow comes down

          In fragile flakes or blizzard

          Flowers await spring

    A Rhyme for All Reasons

Each special occasion celebrates a milestone,

A great accomplishment of your own,

Measuring how much you have grown.

In life’s journey, we have much to learn

You will bring a fresh twist and turn

To the beaten path that others spurn

    Building strength, you are ascending

A brand-new era of goals impending

    Your sweet successes mending

    This world’s many a plight.

You have the power, brains, and talent bright

To see a wrong and make it
