Reverend Ambridge, an ordained minister, is the Senior Pastor and Founder of Word of Hope Full Gospel Church, with branches in India and Africa. A graduate of American Christian College and Seminary in Oklahoma, Reverend Ambridge is a current member of the American Association of Christian Counselors in Forest, Virgina. Reverend Ambridge has been a member of the International Ministerial Fellowship in Minneapolis, Minnesota since 2001. She is also a graduate and alumnus of the Sure Foundation Theological Institute in Florida.

Chapter One

PREFACE

Every chapter of the Bible contains key words that facilitate the progression of thoughts and concepts that flow from one chapter to the next. Word puzzles have always been a learning and memory tool. This book is a learning tool that is focused on the Word of God.

I call this book Search the Word—Chapter One because each puzzle is taken from the first chapter of each book of the Bible. It’s a collection of Chapter One’s.

Before each puzzle I present for your consideration a key Scripture and a key concept. You may find other things that draw your attention as you read each chapter. There’s a note page where you can jot down any thoughts or observations you want to remember or revisit.

All Scriptural references are from the Authorized King James Version of the Bible.

OLD TESTAMENT

1—THE FIRST BOOK OF MOSES—CALLED GENESIS—CHAPTER ONE

KEY SCRIPTURE: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:27-28 KJV

CONCEPT: God laid the foundations of our world and upon it He created everything, from the lowest order to the highest order, which is man, and he gave man dominion over the earth. It is our responsibility to honor that authority and temper it with responsible behavior.

KEY SCRIPTURE: But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. Exodus 1:12 KJV

CONCEPT: The nation of Israel grew according to God’s promise to Abraham. A new pharaoh came into power, a pharaoh who feared the children of Israel because of their great numbers. He put them in bondage. This was the bondage God prophesied to Abraham (Genesis 15:13), out of which He would bring them. God did not cause the bondage, but simply warned Abraham that it would come.

KEY SCRIPTURE: And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. Leviticus 1:4 KJV

CONCEPT: Any voluntary offering was to be brought to the priests who would assist in the sacrificial ritual. The offering was to be a male without blemish who would be sacrificed to atone for the sins of the individual who brought the offering.
