Part III Redemption
Prologue
Dedicated to the betrayed and brokenhearted
I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not up,
nor awake my love, until he please.
Song of Solomon 8:4 (AKJV)
Part I
Madness
Why did you call me that fateful Sunday evening
Why were my ears allowed to partake of your sweet voice
Why were my eyes permitted to behold your sensuous beauty
Why did I ever know such ravishment existed hitherto
Why did I let my imagination run amok
Why did I let my heart beat to a different rhythm
And my feelings dance a different tune
Why did I let my mind wonder in the forest
And my thoughts paint pictures in the sand
Why did I ever come to Whyte Avenue
Your melodious voice seeped into my ears
Like waters percolating into a dry thirsty well
Like rain falling on dry cracked fallow ground
Softening the mounds of clay
Wetting the dust
Cracking open my heart of stone
Reaching through the earpiece
Into my brain with your playful laughter
Digging up an uneasy rumination
Swaying as a dry autumn leaf
In the eventide breeze
Dancing dazzling dizzying
Casting down all my curtains of complexity
I should have buried my longings long ago
And let the wind carry my fantasies to the Horizon
I should have let the rain rain on me
And flooded my mind with images of Galaxies yonder
I should have dived into the cold blue sea
So the salty waters would cleanse my brain of your voice
My head would have cooled down
From the heat of my wondering thoughts
Working overtime on sleepless nights
Measuring words spoken Weighing feelings felt
I should have taken a train to the Rocky Mountains
And left these musings behind
Maybe then
I never would have known
The pleasure of your company
The warmth of your embrace
The sunshine of your smile
The tickle of
