About this ebook

Spirituality is for those seeking understanding,
religion is for those seeking reward.-Unknown
I have to admire the courage Pastor Tunde Babalola has demonstrated in writing this book especially at his time in our history and in the church where so much is done in the name of Jesus that has done more harm than good. More so as we are battling to remain relevant in a fast changing technological world filled with reality shows while we continue to pretend that this is all God is to a confused and dying world. Scripture tells us in Romans 8:19 (NKJV) For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. If there is ever a time this scripture is real and needs to be fulfilled, it is now!

    FOREWORD

Spirituality is for those seeking understanding, religion is for those seeking reward. -Unknown

I have to admire the courage Pastor Tunde Babalola has demonstrated in writing this book especially at this time in our history and in the church where so much is done in the name of Jesus that has done more harm than good.

This is what I believe Pastor Tunde is doing with this book, by using real life stories, humor, teachings and even foolishness to shake us from some of the things that are holding us back the most in fulfilling this great calling upon God’s people and His Church. It’s easy to go through but can have a profound effect on anyone who chooses to open their eyes and see the truth for all it is worth. It’s time shake off these shackles and hold on to the light that is the only hope for this life and the next.

We have carried so much baggage God never intended for us to carry and the stories in this book make it so much easier to put these issues in perspective but Tunde does not leave you there. He carefully proffers biblical solutions. It’s recommended reading especially if we want to avoid these pitfalls! God bless.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I acknowledge and respect the privacy of those whose story I have shared. Obviously some details have been added or removed, to protect the identity, integrity and privacy of those concerned.

I give a big roar of praise to my wife Buki and my three children, Derin, Michael and Fimi who endured many nights of my snoring sleeps from tiredness, writing this book. Love you loads. Thanks to my immediate family, friends and colleagues in ministry who I have learnt greatly from and to the church of the living God, to whom I am called to serve. I am also thankful to God for those who have impacted my life down the years as my spiritual overseers, Pastor Olubi Johnson, Pastor Niran Fafowora, late Dr. Derek Prince and Pastor E.A.Adeboye. Gratitude goes to Pastor Dotun Reju and Pastor

Francis Madojemu who gave me sound advice writing this book. I learnt a lot from your mistakes and successes, brothers. Most importantly, thank you Jehovah, for giving me Jesus in my heart.

    INTRODUCTION

I have known the author all of my Christian life and even before. I have been a beneficiary of this brand of ministry expressed in this book for years and I am glad that many more are being given the opportunity. One experience that quickly came to my mind as I read the manuscript happened when I was a banker and my job takes me out of town once in a while and there are perks attached to such trips which was widely abused by staff and the abuse had become official. When I played along, I can still remember the way I lost my peace (I wonder if believers still have such peace losing experience today) and I sought counsel from the author as my prayer partner. His words still ring in my ears till today… Dotun, I don’t work in your office, I don’t know what the practice is, but I think you should do the right thing". It was an arrow shot through my heart because I knew the right thing and I was merely looking for someone to confirm and support my error, but I guess I went to the wrong person. Many that will read this book cannot claim ignorance of the rot in the body of Christ, the rot has worsened because we seemingly created a 21st century version of Ahab’s palace where there are loads of lying tongued prophets telling ourselves what we want and love to hear. But this book offers us a Micaiah voice for consideration…

There is no better time for such a voice as this to be heard calling on the Church leadership to in the words of Haggai the prophet CONSIDER (Y) OUR WAYS. One does not need any special unction to know that the global church is on a decline; we can only disagree when we appraise the church with any standard different from that of the Bible especially when one considers the experiences of the church as told in the book of acts. The decline in the Church has polarized the Church along two lines – those responsible for the decline and benefitting from it and those taking responsibility for the decline and positioning themselves for a reformation like Daniel and Nehemiah saying WE HAVE SINNED and not
