    Every little girl dreams of being a ballerina or a mermaid. I was no different as a child. When I was a child, I had a re-occurring dream of a mermaid named Marina. Marina couldn’t talk but she was beautiful. She resembled the mermaid on Fireball XL. When I realized I could control my dreams, I re-designed Marina and named her Carol. Carol could swim in the ocean and disguise herself as a human being. Carol and I had many colorful adventures at night. I shall never forget her. She was my alter-ego and an extension of my soul.

    I began writing Mermaids in California when I was a housewife. I registered for a creative writing course and began researching mermaids. Mermaids were always seen in storms and had haunting singing voices. My favorite character is Dracilla. Dracilla is my dark night. She is the part of myself that is profoundly beautiful but enigmatic. Sometimes she is so close to me I can almost touch her but then
