About this ebook

Addie Rean is a rambunctious child with a heart of gold and a pension for the extreme. Her story, told by her nameless best friend, is one of laughter, heroism, and most importantly, friendship. At a time when children are learning their place in the world, Addie Rean challenges us to check the space within ourselves that make us unique and to define the love we both have to give and want to receive.

    I was 6 years old when I

first saw Addie Rean. It was the first day of the 1st grade and the first time I had heard of anyone from a town you could miss if you blink. Our town had about twenty-eight stop lights, but hers had only two.

I was bringing homework to Addie’s teacher from the printer. Her mother had a tight grip on her jacket as she dragged her into class late. Her ribbons had become undone and her shoes while clean, had glitter and sports stickers on them. A scab had won the battle with the band-aide that hung loosely off her knee.
