I
dedicate this book to Carol,
My love and caring soulmate
Who has proved to be
In my life,
My support and major role mate.
I thank her for just being there
When I by poetry smitten
For without her help,
Her encouragement,
This book could not be written.
Why Thomas William Charles
Why did I write my poems by,
Thomas William Charles,
Instead of just plain Tom.
It is true, it has a little
More equanimity,
Nonchalance, more aplomb.
That was not the reason,
My book about a homeless slug,
Was published under Tom.
There were so many authors
With Cooper plus a Tom,
Exclusivity was gone.
This book is my second book,
Writing, didn't take that long.
The living, learning to produce,
Life involvement called upon.
This poetry is part of me,
So to me it does belong.
Among the myriad
Of Tom Coopers,
Only one of them is me.
So that you will know
Which one of them,
Poetry by TWC.
If you wonder how I got the name,
It's not thought up or to adorn.
It's the name I was baptized by,
Just after I was born.
Introduction
By poetry introducing,
This book I am producing,
I hope readers I'm seducing,
Inducing you my book to buy.
My poems cover many topics,
Possibly myopic, some a little scopic,
Such you may wish to stop it
And not give my book to try.
Now the reason l attempted,
Stringing words and rhyme,
Well, it won't take a moment
If you can spare the time.
In sixty six, LBJ was here,
Yes lots of flags that day,
In St Vinnies I was pruned
And they went all the way.
The day I left that cancer ward
I felt that I was blessed,
For I left a lot
