William T. McRae was born in Burlington, NC in 1978. He attended the undergraduate program at Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC receiving a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He is the owner of McRae’s Barber Shop which was voted the #1 Barbershop in Alamance County. He has authored the inspirational books Faith That Kept Me, The Miracle in You, and The Journey. He currently resides in Burlington with his wife and children. From there he continues helping, mentoring, and inspiring people in his community to make a difference.

Chapter 1
The Journey of Running
1. Inspiration
My inspiration to run comes from many sources. One thing I can say is that running three to four times a week gives me a way to meditate with God and recondition my mind, body, and soul. Secondly, I desire to maintain my health because I plan on being here to watch my family grow. Thirdly, my passion is running and sharing that passion is my way of giving back which is very important to me.
2. Mental Preparation
What keeps me running and not giving up is perseverance? It helps me deal with negative feelings or thoughts that promote fear. The truth is your mind and body have to work together to get a positive result such as winning a marathon or world championship.
Never have a doubt in your mind about your preparation because it can cause you to not believe in your highest potential when you are trying to reach a goal. Don’t quit! Keep going and finish strong.
3. Goal Setting
In our society, goal setting has become a part of life at home, school, work, and social environments. Setting goals for yourself, is a way to motivate yourself to reach your highest potential. Whether your goal is losing weight,
