To every small-timer with a limitless imagination.

    Spaces

Life’s a stream along the river

    and washed along with tears

and we feel it’s something that should alienate us

    and last throughout the years

although we turn in the same direction

    one could never tell

that a single mind’s a world inside its own

and thinks it’s just as well

the faces I’ve seen with spaces between

    they glance and look away

and if they could live just a moment of another’s life

    what would they say?

these lines are deep like motes around us

a bridge was made to burn

eternity can last a while ‘till we

    give someone else their turn

we’re older now and less together

    these feelings drift apart

though we fight, deny and lose we wander

back to the place we start

the faces I’ve seen with spaces between

    they glance and look away

and if they could live just a moment of another’s life

    what would they say?

I can’t fit you into my space until I’m

    sure about myself

‘till these hopes and dreams come true tomorrow

    and sweep this dusty shelf

the faces I’ve seen with spaces between

    they glance and look away

and if they could live just a moment of another’s life

    what would they say?

    Ephemeral

    Vinyl shade

    pulled almost down

    black flies

    on the screen

    another hour in these confines

    lost

    within a dream

    years swish by without you

    a wait

    I may regret

you have a stake within my soul

    although

    we’ve never met

    do you speak

    do you think

of what I need to hear?

    a flower in a calotte

    firmaments in your eyes

do you know do you feel

    do you even live

    just someplace I’ve never been

    shed a tear for nothing

    a verse bereft of rhyme

    a prayer for the ephemeral

‘till I run out of time

    is smog beyond these clouds

on the brighter side I’m burned

are walks through waves with hands in hands

    another bid returned

    do you speak

    do you think

of what I need to hear?

    a flower in a calotte

    firmaments in your eyes

do you wait do you hear

    do you even breathe

someday I hope your face will come

    from out

    between these ears

    Fanatic’s Penance

When I was but a child

bewildered by the world around me

    I heard of the divine
