    Foreword

Twenty-three years into my hairdressing career, a family member was diagnosed with cancer. As a result of the treatment, she was going to suffer hair loss. This was such a traumatic experience. I had to help her choose the wig and that took three days. We visited several wig stores before finding a suitable one. Then I had to cut it to a suitable style and I was so nervous. I had never done this before and I had no training in this area, and neither had my fellow hairdressers or teachers. From this experience, I started to educate herself by visiting wig stores, reading articles, and travelling abroad to training courses.

To date, wig training and hair replacement systems are not included in most hairdressing courses. When teaching hairdressers in industry, I find that so many of them are seeking information on how to deal with hair loss.

In the past, people lived with hair thinning and baldness, but today’s world is different. Personal appearance is so important. Thinning and balding is happening much younger, and only so many answers can be found online. Solving hair loss is a practical procedure, and knowledgeable professionals are necessary.

I wrote this book based on all the knowledge and experience I have gained over these years.
