John Carrigan
Author John Carrigan, is a martial arts instructor, actor, stunt man and inspirational speaker. He grew up in a loving family, but was plunged into a life of darkness when his father was stricken with schizophrenia. Losing a father figure to use as a role model, John turned to the martial arts and philosophy for guidance. After years of physical and mental training John gained a Master degree and was inducted into The Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He now teaches self-defence alongside self-belief to all of his students.

Foreword
I wrote this book to pass on and explain the meanings to philosophical sayings that I have come across throughout my life. These sayings have guided and helped me to understand the world around me.
I grew up in a loving family, but we were plunged into a life of darkness, fear and want when my father was stricken with paranoid schizophrenia. With that, I lost any father figure to use as a role model. So, as I embarked on years of isolation and loneliness imposed by my father’s illness, I began to study and self-educate, to try and understand all the feelings, fears and doubts that that kind of life was bound to cause me and, at the same time, I began to study the martial arts. As time passed, the combination of physical and mental training began to change and mould me, helping me
