J.V. Merrick

J.V. Merrick began writing short stories while living in a homeless shelter in Kansas City, Missouri, as a result of the economic crash of 2008. Life wasn’t always so dismal. She was raised in an upper middle class family on Long Island and later, was accepted into a design college in New York City. She landed positions in the fashion industry and sales corporations, wore designer clothing, and traveled for business – living the good life. But when the crash came her life changed. Reflecting on her spiritual upbringing, reading Louise Hay’s books, and rediscovering her faith in God inspired J.V. Merrick to write her first short story book, True Self. Turning her pain around through words she found a constructive outlet in writing.
