About this ebook

To win battles against your enemies, the devil, and the hordes of demonic renegades that attempt to ensnare us by deceptions, we must get to know them. Not personally do we get to know them but through the scriptures by being abreast about their ways, habits, and stratagems to combat their evil plots that they seek to entrap us by. Through Arming Yourself Against Demonic Warfare, you will be ready to face the enemies of our minds. You will learn much about what you have at your powerful spiritual arsenal disposal to keep them at bay. How can one defeat his enemy? It is simple; study him, his ways, flaws, habits, and the imperfections that he has. Arming Yourself Against Demonic Warfare is a book that will enlighten believers on how to stay rooted and grounded when combating their spiritual foes, how to engage in spiritual warfare correctly without falling prey to the enemies tactics, how to guard the mind from being taken hostage by spiritual wickedness in the heavenly places. Your eyes will become open, and you will come away informed so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes (2 Cor. 2:11).

    About the Author

    Special thanks to Mr. Gregory Edwards at Greg’s Airbrushing LLC for bringing my sketch into professional perfection.

    The Dedication

    I have to dedicate this book to my oldest brother, who was one year apart from me. When I first wrote this book, Stafford Riley Simmons was still living. My manuscript was completed several years ago; I was waiting on God to fund the finances to get it published.

    Both of my brothers were murdered, one directly and the other indirectly. Stafford was poisoned; he was given cocaine mixed with a poisonous substance. I’m the only brother living, along with three sisters.

    I loved my brother and prayed for him every day, especially for his salvation. He never was able to kick the habit; he chose to be a slave and victim of drugs up until his death. Stafford had overdosed several times before the fatal ending of his life.

    When I first got the call he had overdosed, I entered the room to see my brother on life support. I spoke to my brother and spoke the sinner’s prayer as tears were flowing from his eyes, which was a repeat from when my youngest brother was murdered in 1994. I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that my brother accepted Christ. I will one day see the both of them in heaven or if Jesus returns before then in the rapture of the body of Christ (the church).

    Yes, my brothers and dad battled with drug addictions every day of their lives. We all are battling with some habit or thought that demands our allegiance every day. These voices are predominantly demons, and in the midst of their oppressions is the voice of the Holy Spirit, who speaks to us as well. It is important that we know how to distinguish these great impersonating voices from the voice of the Holy Spirit. Every voice is not the voice of the Spirit. Every day is a battle, and war is being waged; we must stay alert in these last days as demonic activities increase. Our salvation is near.

    God bless all those families who lost a loved one to drug usage. My prayer for those who sell them as well is that they realize their need for Jesus Christ and stop destroying people’s lives.

    Introduction

    There was a card game I recall we used to play called I the Clare War. (We didn’t pronounce it properly as declare as youngsters growing up.) The winner would stand at the table among his opponents as he slammed his card, saying, I the clare war!

    War is a part of our nature as fallen, depraved sinners who inherited our sinful nature from our fore parents. Adam and Eve disobeyed the commands of their Creator. War isn’t fun, glamorous, or appealing; in the end, no one wins, technically, because both sides lose. Whether to casualties or diseases or manned troops, it is still a loss. A lot of troops bear the lurid scars of war.

    I was in Walmart one day when, as I looked behind me, I saw one of our American troops in a wheelchair, with no arms, and his lower body parts were missing. It touched my heart as I looked at him flying his American flag on his wheelchair and wearing his veteran hat proudly. Just think of the many other troops who are scarred psychologically, mentally, emotionally, and physically. Many of them feel the need to do illegal drugs that may hide the problems but that hurt them even more in the long run. War is lurid, and our earth is splattered all over with blood from millions of people.

    If you date back to the time of Cain murdering his innocent brother, Abel, Cain declared war on God by attacking his brother. Some believed they were twins; Cain couldn’t attack God, so he struck Abel as an assault against God. Cain nurtured hatred and murder in his heart toward Abel and God. God’s rejection of his bloodless sacrifice—apparently Cain knew this yet insisted on doing things the way he pleased. This began the long trail of bloodshed and war that has plagued the human race.

    War is a part of the fallen man’s nature; it will continue to exist until Jesus Christ comes back to set things in order. Until then, we will continue to battle with the inner struggles and the outward ones as believers claiming God’s precious promises.

    Ponder over Psalm 91 before you read this book. It says,

    He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High

    shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

    I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress;

    My God, in Him I will trust."

    Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler.

    And from the deadly perilous pestilence.

    He shall cover you with His feathers,

    And under you with His wings you may shall take refuge;

    His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

    You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,

    nor of the arrow that flies by day,

    nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,

    nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

    A thousand may fall at your side,

    And ten thousand at your right hand;

    But it shall not come near you.

    Only with your eyes shall you look,

    and see the reward of the wicked.

    Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge,

    Even the Most High, your dwelling place,

    No evil shall befall you,

    Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

    For He shall give His angels charge over you,

    To keep you in all your ways.

    In their hands they shall bear you up,

    Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

    You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,

    The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

    Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;

    I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

    He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;

    I will be with him in trouble;

    I will deliver him and honor him.

    With a long life I will satisfy him,

    And show him My salvation."

    Finally, one last scripture of encouragement from the sweet psalmist David says in Psalm 27:3, Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, in spite of this I shall be confident. May God strengthen your heart through these verses as you find hope and shelter in the Most High God during the days of battle.

    Finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against the flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the high places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breast plate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.

    —Ephesians 6:10–18

    In the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left.

    —2 Corinthians 6:7

    Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, And faithfulness the belt about His waist.

    —Isaiah 11:5

    Chapter 1

    Being Strong and Remaining Strong

    I remember when I was just a young boy watching bodybuilders flex their muscles. I thought it all happened overnight for them to become ripped and cut up as they were. Never did it dawn on me the sacrifices they make and the rigorous training, along with long hours they spend in the gym, to get a unique, fit body. It is hard to work and focus with perseverance to endure the pain of those strenuous workouts.
